Tutoring Policies
1. Tutoring Location
- All tutoring sessions are held in person at the Oviedo Public Library or another agreed-upon public location.
- Sessions are conducted in open, public spaces to ensure a safe and professional learning environment.
- Students are expected to arrive on time and be ready to begin at the scheduled start time.
2. Session Length & Scheduling
- Sessions are offered in 25-minute or 50-minute increments.
- Sessions must be scheduled in advance through the booking system.
- Regular weekly sessions are encouraged for best results, but are not required unless agreed upon in advance.
3. Payment Policy
- Payment is due at the time of booking to reserve the session.
- Accepted payment methods will be listed at booking.
- Sessions not paid for in advance are not guaranteed.
4. Cancellation & Rescheduling Policy
- Cancellations or reschedule requests must be made at least 24 hours in advance.
- Sessions canceled with less than 24 hours’ notice may be charged in full.
- No-shows will be charged the full session fee.
- Emergency situations will be handled with grace and discretion.
5. Late Arrival Policy
- Sessions will end at the originally scheduled time, even if the student arrives late.
- If a student arrives more than 10 minutes late, the session may be forfeited without refund.
- If the tutor is running late (rare), the session will be extended or rescheduled as appropriate.
6. Academic Scope
- Tutoring is offered for:
- Middle & High School Math (Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, Statistics)
- College-level math and selected civil engineering courses
- Tutoring focuses on skill-building, concept understanding, and problem-solving, not completing graded work on the student’s behalf.
7. Student Expectations
- Students are expected to come prepared with relevant materials (notes, assignments, textbook, calculator, etc.).
- Progress depends on participation and effort during and between sessions.
- Tutoring is most effective when paired with regular practice.

8. Parent Communication (for minors)
- Parents are welcome to communicate via email regarding goals, progress, or scheduling.
- Detailed lesson reports are not provided after every session, but periodic feedback is available upon request.
9. Fit & Learning Style
- Every student learns differently. While Math Journeys strives to support each learner, tutoring may not be the best fit for every student.
- If it becomes clear that a different learning environment or support system would better serve the student, recommendations may be provided.
10. Code of Conduct
- Respectful behavior is expected at all times.
- Disruptive, inappropriate, or unsafe behavior may result in termination of tutoring services without refund.
- Math Journeys reserves the right to refuse or discontinue services at its discretion.
11. Policy Updates
- Policies may be updated as the business grows.
- Clients will be notified of significant changes in advance.
